Drugs allowed during pregnancy (Approved Drugs)
Although you should try to minimize the amount of medication you may be taking during pregnancy, it is sometimes necessary for your health and relief to take some medication. This list includes medicines that are safe during pregnancy.
Medications should be taken as directed and not for more than seven days.
It is a very common symptom in pregnancy. The following medications can be taken to relieve constipation:
- Probiotics
Other helpful tips:
- Increase your water intake to 8-10 glasses per day
- Eat plenty of fresh fruits, green leafy vegetables and cereals, foods rich in fiber
- Exercise! Walking is a good exercise during pregnancy

The following medications can be taken to relieve diarrhea:
- IMMODIUM
- You can also try the B.R.A.T. (banana, rice, apple, tea / toast). If diarrhea persists, call our doctor for further instructions.
The following medications can be taken to relieve hemorrhoids:
- PROCTO-SYNALAR N (in cream or suppository form)
Other helpful tips:
- Diet rich in dietary fiber, fluid intake for continuous hydration, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory treatment, shallow Sitz baths and rest.
The following medications can be taken to relieve pain:
- APOTEL
- DEPON
- PANADOL
- PARACETAMOL
The following medications may be taken for indigestion, heartburn, and upset stomach:
- MAALOX
The following medicines may only be used after medical instruction and must be prescribed:
- NEXIUM
- PENRAZOL
- ZANTAC
The following medications may be taken to relieve nausea:
- BESIX (vitamin B6, 2 times a day)
- EMETOSTOP
Other helpful tips:
- Ginger root (2 tablets, 2-4 times a day)
- Small and frequent meals
- 8-10 glasses of water a day
Women taking the following medicines or active substances should not breast-feed:
- BROMOCRYPTIN – used to stop lactation
- COCAINE
- CYCLOPHOSPHAMID
- CYCLOSPORINE
- DOXORUBIKIN
- ERGOTAMINE
- LITHIUM
- METHOTREXATE
- PHENIDION
